The AF 85mm F1.4 FE cherishes Samyang’s world class optical technology while envisioning a new leap forward, with its quick and accurate autofocus performance and excellent resolution.
A small telephoto lens, ideal for portraits, animals and travelThe 85 mm focal length is ideal for subjects that you want to capture or highlight without getting too close to the subject. The angle of view of 28.4° is also particularly suitable for portraits or small groups, as people in this focal length range appear naturally proportioned. Lenses with focal lengths between 80 and 105 millimeters are therefore also called portrait lenses. The AF 85mm F1.4 also performs well as an all-rounder when travelling. For the stitching of panoramas with very high resolution, a lens like this one is predestined, also this focal length gives you a good start into night sky photography, for example for parts of the Milky Way. In the zoo, the lens performs just as well as on a photo safari, and you'll be rewarded with enviable shots.
Designed for best performanceFor the best possible optical performance of the lens, the light flow has been optimized specifically based on the relation of the lens glass to the position of the Nikon camera sensor. The high quality lens is compactly designed with a solid metal body. Screw-in filters can be attached to the 77 mm thread and thus open up further design possibilities. The fast and precise autofocus is a big help, especially when shooting moving objects.
High quality optics for crisp imagesThe interior of this lens consists of 9 glass elements arranged in 7 groups. Thus, a minimum focusing distance of only 90 cm is possible. The combination of the lenses with a hybrid aspherical glass (H-ASP) reduce chromatic aberrations and imaging defects and ensure high performance. This is reflected in sharp images with crisp contrasts and natural colors. The optical design is rounded off with Samyang's own UMC Ultra Multi Coating, which avoids reflections and ghost images.
Advantages of a full frame lens on a camera with APS-C sensorA variety of lens defects such as distortion, blur, or vignetting appear on the outside of the image. If a full-frame lens is used on a camera with an APS-C sensor, these areas are not used. This gives you maximum quality. Additional post-processing time for the correction of lens errors is eliminated. The image angle with APS-C is 19.0° (Nikon APS-C crop factor: 1.5).
Compact DimensionsThe lens, housed in a sturdy aluminium body, is small and compact despite its strong performance features: With a weight of only 560 g (480 g without the lens cap and hood), a length of just under 7,5 cm and a diameter of 8.8 cm, it fits easily in almost any photo bag and does not cause back pain or sweating even on long journeys or tours. Thanks to Samyang's own Weather-Sealing-Protection it is immune to light rain or snow showers.
